6 Big Cats Coming to Carolina Tiger Rescue
Carolina Tiger Rescue, a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary in Pittsboro, NC, plans to rescue 3 lions and 3 tigers from a Texas facility that has closed due to money problems. Three lions - Sebastian (pictured above), Sheba & Tarzan and three tigers - Bali, Java and Titan are among more than 300 exotic animals that needed to relocate from Wild Animal Orphanage in San Antonio. Carolina Tiger Rescue has started a fundraising campaign to pay for the lions’ trip and other necessities for all six cats. Prior to the new additions, the sanctuary housed about 75 animals, including binturongs, bobcats, caracals, kinkajous, ocelots, servals and tigers.
Carolina Tiger Rescue, whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild, is open to the public by reservation only for guided tours. The sanctuary is closed on Thankksgiving Day but will be offering an additional Holiday Tour on Friday, November 26. Reserve spaces early for Thanksgiving weekend as space for these tours is popular and limited.
